    Apple iPod classic 80GB Review
By: Rob Mead - techradar.com Reviews

The iPod classic can still cut it just. Although the form factor's largely the same as the old 5.5G model, it's effectively all new - the easily scratched polycarbonate case has been replaced by a much more robust-feeling aluminium one. The new LED backlit display is a lot brighter and whiter than that found in the old 5.5G too. ...read the full review

    5 of 5 Great product Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Now I see why these things are so popular. Be warned though, you will spent countless hours scouring your collection and the internet looking for more songs to put on this sucker.

    4 of 5 It's an Ipod Monday, June 23, 2008
    FlyJake from san jose CA
What is there to type? It's an Ipod. The product is great but Itunes is not easy to understand or use. But I am sure it is just me casue everyone else can figure out how to use that interface. Otherwise the Ipod itself works great!

    5 of 5 Apple Classic iPod 80GB Tuesday, June 03, 2008
    Srinivas(srinivasb1979 from Seattle, WA
Even though i possessed a Microsoft 30GB MP3 player, i always wanted to have an apple iPod, just because of its amazing sound clarity and this product didn't dissatisfied. I highly recommend this product for any new prosperent. As it's known, apple sticks to its highest quality of standards in terms of audio & video. But i am searching for ways to download content for my podcasts. Overall, it is a very good deal and one can surely go for it. Srinivas.

    5 of 5 There is a difference Sunday, March 23, 2008
A Customer from Sugar Land Texas
This is my 1st iPod. I have tried all the others and the iPod quality is by far the best. I was even impressed with the packaging! Most products come in a blister pack. The iPod came in a special padded box. I liked the quality of the presentation. This unit is heavy and feels solid and durable. iPod and iTunes, in my opinion, have the best software and hardware relationship of all the units I have owned. This iPod is well worth the price. I have had it for a week now with zero issues.

4 of 5 good step forward Saturday, March 01, 2008
    em from socal
i believe that, as long as the mp3 player is functional, favorites are a pretty subjective thing. will try to break this review of the 80gb ipod classic 80gb into subjective and objective. my mp3 player review credentials -- have owned rio's (remember them!), sansa's (quite a few), a 2nd generation ipod (or was it 3rd). anyway, when my 15gb ipod's charge-holding ability became dubious beyond compare, i bought the 80gb. i use it in gym, in car through in-built connector, and in a bose ipod sound-dock. have owned it for 4 months. the classic design works great for me -- i didn't want the big screen of the touch because video is secondary to the large capacity. i have a pretty huge selection of music across genres and i find the ipod classic's navigation and click-wheel intelligence pretty amazing -- a huge improvement in the click-wheel from older generations. another major improvement over previous generations is the batter life -- what was a major pain point before is no longer an issue -- i think i get 8 to 12 hours of life from each full charge. the display is crisp and colors are rendered beautifully judging from the few occassions i've watched video on the ipod classic (long-haul lights). on the negative side, there is not enough configurability of bass equalizer and different sound-settings -- basically apple dumbed it down WAY too much for the dumbest of consumers. unless you don't mind really poor sound, get proper ear-buds/headphones. i recommend the v-moda vibe ear-buds for those who run/exercise. but earphone preference seems to be much more subjective than even mp3 player selection. the most negative aspect of my ipod experience have been the sporadic freezes that occur when i connect/disconnect from a supposedly compatible device. strangely enough, connecting the ipod to the sound-dock will unfreeze it on occassion. otherwise, you have to let the battery run-down. upon recharging, it is fine. with regards software, itunes is itunes -- i actually buy most of my music online and then rip the drm. so itunes/ipod is mostly carrying mp3's. for ripping drm, i like soundbite but there are alternates (need to try doubleTwist some more before i recommend it). overall, i'd buy it -- i love music so much that anything under $350 seems like a huge bargain for me given the happiness the devide brings me. so even at list price ($249), the ipod classic 80gb seems like a steal.

4 of 5 Very slick device Thursday, December 27, 2007
    Doc from Washington, D.C.
I finally decided to try this unit in spite of my belief that MP3 type audio is too compressed. In doing subjective A/B listening with my MD player, it is quite acceptable especially in view of the reduced size and not having to carry MDs on a plane. It does not have the "punch" of the MD and the dynamic range is definitely less, but I will get over it. My biggest complaint is that there is no video output to display the video content on a larger screen if desired.
