5 of 5 Great Hard Drive Expander for Sceintific Atlanta 8 Monday, August 11, 2008 fran in clinton. from Clinton, MA
I had this hard drive for quite sometime, I did get the rebate. I usually send the rebate in and forget about it. I do get excited when I receive the rebate to spend on something else! I was looking for a drive to hook it up to Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD DVR cable box, from Charter com. in Massachusetts. I bought some other brand which didnt work. I gave that to my son and when I saw this esata drive, and the price with rebate I wanted to give it a try. I connected it and the box recognized the drive. I had to kind of play with it like turning off(unplug) the cable box first and connect the drive or some sequence like that. Definitely not a hot plug and play on this cable box. Once I set it up it ran fine giving me three times the time to record. This worked beautiful until I dropped the darn thing. Then it stopped working. That's why I gave it a 5 out of 5, if not I would have given it a "ten"! Customer service didn't seems to be bad by email. If I dont get a replacement I will buy the 500GB model, Buy.com has it for $75 good price even if you dont send in the $10 rebate. Definitely beats the price of the WD MY DVR Expander or some stuff like that which geos for more than $180. Was this review helpful?
3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 1 of 5 Rebate process is a scam and unethical. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 drstrong from Delia, Kansas
My drive works well, and is quiet. I haven't had the mechanical problems that others have. However, the rebate process is a scam. After waiting four months I received an email saying I did not send in the required registration and was left with no recourse. I did send in the registration, and I have a copy of all my paperwork, but they don't want to see it. It is criminal, and if you google VOX rebates you'll see a large number of people have had trouble with this company, especially with their imaginary rebates. Don't buy VOX, it isn't worth it. Assume you will never get the rebate. Don't bother to save a copy of what you submit because if your submission gets "lost" you CANNOT resend. No other vendor has this policy (and coincidentally no other vendor has lost my submission ;-) ) Was this review helpful?

Purchased this on March 18th, still have not received rebates. Have contacted VOX several times and am always told that I will be receiving checks shortly. It has now been 4 months.Do not buy this product based on the rebates Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Not bad for the price IF rebates do come! Monday, May 26, 2008 jww3388 from Phoenix, AZ
The first one I received did not even fire up so my computer could not even read that an external HD was connected. As a result, I could not format it. I returned it to Buy.com for an exchange. The second one is working just fine. It was easy to format (forget the instruction manual; probably written by non-native speakers of the English language!) and I have since transferred all of my files from my laptop to this drive. I am rating the Value a 3 because I bought this Vox external HD with two separate Vox rebates ($15 each) that make you jump through hoops before you can send them off. Two months later, I have yet to receive my rebate checks. No e-mails or other forms of communication from Vox as to whether the rebate requirements were met and my checks are on their way or otherwise. No one ever responds to my e-mails. Very poor customer service. I would stick to Western Digital in the future. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Don't bother with anything from VOX Tuesday, May 06, 2008 Tim from Closter, NJ
Don't fall for rebate scheme from VOX. You won't get the rebate. You can't help with product when you have problem with it. Save that money for brand name product. The value is great if you can get rebate, if not, it is piece of junk. Was this review helpful? < |
