Like others have said, the right way to insert the card reader into express port was a little precarious, (on my Laptop, label down arrow towards computer). As long as in goes in smoothly with a little "click" at the end... it is installed right. Once installed, it performed just fine. Win XP found and installed it in seconds. It now works just like it was built in to my laptop as OEM. It works flawlessly with my XD card, as does it with my CF and SD cards. A very nice addition to any Laptop with a spare express port! Like the other reviewer stated, the labels are applied are on the wrong side. So you need to insert the card reader upside down. The flash card orientation will be correct. So far, I used SD (non SDHC) and XD cards and it reads and writes without any issues. My only gripe is that it does not allow my MacBook Pro to sleep correctly. For the price (with the rebate) I cant complain. Im almost positive this is a rebadged card reader from Koutech. Was this review helpful?

I had the same problem about orientation of the card. I fixed? it by removing the label and putting it on the opposite side! The BUT above refers to a problem the card has with my Macbook Pro. The card is flush with the side of the computer when it is inserted. I thought that would be a good place to store it so a memory card could be plugged in without going hunting for the reader in my computer bag. When I closed the computer screen to put the computer to sleep, I got to see the sleep/wake cycle start. It took a few minutes to find the problem was the card reader. The MBP just got no rest if the card was in. Card works fine but lives in the accessory pouch in the MBP bag. Was this review helpful?

I got this to try out the hitherto unused ExpressCard slot on my old Dell Inspiron B130 laptop. It had a nice rebate that made it the cheapest possible ExpressCard device that I could actually use.
It came with no instruction manual. It turns out it NEEDED one. I tried plugging it in, name label up, and could not tell if it "seated" in the slot. I pulled it out and tried just putting an SD card in the reader. I could see that the flash card had to go in upside down with respect to the "top" name label in the card reader (the side with the colored label and arrow). I tried for quite awhile, but the card was never recognized by the laptop.
Then I tried inserting the reader upside down, with the flash card upside down in the reader (thus the flash card was facing up) and it worked. Either my Dell ExpressCard slot is built upside down, or the reader's labels are applied to the wrong sides. I think the latter is true.
It works with both my SD card and a Sony Memory Stick Pro that is inserted. Without a flash card inserted, the reader is flush with the edge of my Dell and thus is unobtrusive if left in all the time. Overall, I recommend this, if you know the orientation secret. Was this review helpful?
